Impact of Sandy Soil Amendment with Dairy Slurry Treated through pH Adjustment on Nutrient and Coliform Leaching

چکیده
Livestock farming produces high volumes of animal slurry that can be sanitized using low-cost treatments by pH adjustment, reducing pathogen contamination, and promoting valorization as a safe fertilizer. This work aims to evaluate the impact sandy soil amendment with dairy treated adjustment on potential release nutrients coliforms into groundwater. A laboratory column leaching experiment was conducted surface application six tested: raw slurry, acidified H2SO4, alkalinized KOH, alkalinized/neutralized mineral fertilizer, control. The fertilizer rate 0.08 g N kg−1 dry soil. Leachates were analyzed for pH, electrical conductivity, N-NH4+ N-NO3−, macro- micronutrients, fecal coliforms. Results showed led significantly lower nitrate than (maximum 16.1 vs. 50.4%). use hygienized alkalinization decreased relative slurry. However, incomplete sanitization acidification strongly promoted coliform risk groundwater contamination. It concluded is safer solution regard pollution.

Characterization of biomass residues and their amendment effects on water sorption and nutrient leaching in sandy soil.
In this study, we evaluated the efficiency of two types of biomass residues (fermentation residues from a bioethanol process, FB; brown mill residues from a papermaking process, BM) as amendments for a sandy soil. The characteristics of these residues including specific surface areas, morphologies and nutrient sorption capacity were measured. The effects of biorefinery residues on water and nut...
متن کاملEffect of biochar amendment on sorption and leaching of nitrate, ammonium, and phosphate in a sandy soil.
When applied to soils, it is unclear whether and how biochar can affect soil nutrients. This has implications both to the availability of nutrients to plants or microbes, as well as to the question of whether biochar soil amendment may enhance or reduce the leaching of nutrients. In this work, a range of laboratory experiments were conducted to determine the effect of biochar amendment on sorpt...

متن کاملImpact of chemical amendment of dairy cattle slurry on phosphorus, suspended sediment and metal loss to runoff from a grassland soil.
Emerging remediation technologies such as chemical amendment of dairy cattle slurry have the potential to reduce phosphorus (P) solubility and consequently reduce P losses arising from land application of dairy cattle slurry. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of chemical amendment of slurry to reduce incidental losses of P and suspended sediment (SS) from grassland follow...
متن کاملImpact of Distillery Effluent and Salts on Hydraulic Conductivity of a Sandy Loam Soil
Irrigation with distillery effluent, besides influencing crop yield, may have considerable impact on physical properties of soil because of its high salt and organic carbon contents. This experimental study was conducted to evaluate the effect of distillery effluent on hydraulic conductivity of a sandy loam alluvial soil and compare the effect of inorganic salts of potassium (K) with that of di...
